We just received news that there is a good possibility that Loon will be opening tomorrow. Hooray!
Boy, I have never seen this happen before. With the exception of very rainy/windy weather, once the season opens, Loon is always open. However, because of the warm temperature and rain, they have closed for today November 30th and will be closed Thursday December 1st and hope to reopen on Friday December 2nd. We will update you as we know more. Let's all hope for colder, drier weather.
Hooray! Loon is finally open for skiing. They opened yesterday at noon. This is a sure sign that winter is on it's way. Fifty degree, sunny weather is predicted for this weekend and Loon is offering early season lift ticket rates of: $49 for adults (19-64), $39 for teens (13-18), $29 for juniors (6-12) and seniors (65+), and free for children under five and seniors 80+. Sooo ...COME ON DOWN!
Snowmaking temperatures are expected to return tonight and more terrain is expected to open this week. For Thanksgiving, Loon anticipates offering top-to-bottom terrain with at least 10 trails, over 60 acres and more than 4 miles of skiing and riding. Loon’s addition of 600 highly-efficient tower snow guns in the past two years, including an additional 170 snow guns added for this year, allows the resort to cover maximum terrain in a short period of time and expand open terrain quickly. Earlier this week, 288 snow guns were running at one time, covering 10 trails. Happy Thanksgiving to all. |
